What is the topic of your WordCamp talk?

The Benefits of Continuous Integration

Why do you think this is important?

Modern development is complex, with lots of tools to turn the code we write into the code used by the user’s browser. This can be as simple as minifying assets or as sophisticated as downloading dependencies, turning source code into production code, and running automated tests.

In this session, we will look at the top benefits gained from adopting Continuous Integration and automation to improve workflow. Whether you’re a developer wondering why you should try Continuous Integration in the first place or a business owner wondering why you should let your team spend time on adopting a new process when the current one “just works” we’ll have answers for you!

What’s your WordPress origin story?

I started in technology doing computer hardware and networking. As the cloud revolution began I didn’t see a future at my current company and decided to make a change. After making the company website as a side project I got hooked on development, self-taught myself, and landed a job at an agency.

The agency I worked first used WordPress for client blogs but quickly adopted it for full site builds when custom post types were introduced in WordPress 3.0. Since then I have been using and learning WordPress constantly, growing from simple sites to large enterprise projects.

How has WordPress impacted your world?

The open source and WordPress communities have helped me grow web development from a hobby into a passion and then a career. I love giving back and sharing my experience with the community that has changed my life.
