Matt Cromwell is Head of Support and Community Outreach at GiveWP.com and WordImpress.com. He is the author of several popular free plugins and the Lead Admin of the Advanced WordPress Facebook group (which boasts over 30K+ members). He is also a popular blogger.
We’re thrilled to have Matt onboard as a speaker at WordCamp Sacramento 2018 asked a few questions to help you get to know more about him. Check out our mini interview with Matt below:
What is the topic of your WordCamp talk?
Why do you think this is important?
Websites should always serve a clear purpose, and generating income is a very popular one. This used to be extremely daunting, but the tools that are available across the web and specifically for WordPress make being able to accept payments on your website far more convenient for you and your customers/donors than ever before.
What’s your WordPress origin story?
I started in the web as a CSS geek. I loved tweaking sites with Notepad and styles. The first thing that really turned my head in that regard was CSS Zen Garden, and then Kubrik! Kubrik showed me how a clean professional content page should look like (at the time). But I had no clue about WordPress, so I jumped in. When folks heard I knew how to make websites they asked me to build a WordPress site and I honestly never had before, so i jumped in again. WordPress and the Advanced WordPress Facebook group were my mentors, my guides,. The rest is history!
How has WordPress impacted your world?
Websites and WordPress were just a side-gig for me for many years. But as my family grew, I wanted more job flexibility and to own my own destiny more. WordPress and the amazing community that surrounds it made that happen for me.
